It was April 11, 2009 Black Saturday of the Holy Week, i had a blood spotting. I thought it was due to overworking of household chores. Since my ob-gyne scheduled me for a Caesarean Section delivery on April 30, 2009 at Cebu Doctor's University Hospital. At home, it's only my husband and our two toddlers were my companions for fast few days since my mom went to attend his sicked father at her sister's house in Davao city.To my mind, i thought it was a false labor because i'm away to far on my EDD and that was on May 8, 2009. For that month also, i missed my monthly prenatal checkup since nobody can watch our toddlers while we're away.
So what we did, my husband and i recorded the time & duration of contractions occured. For first few hours, it's very irregular and the pain doesn't take too long to occur. Until it reached9 o'clock pm , it seemed the intensity of pain went higher & the interval was very close to each other. My husband insisted that we must go to the hospital but i'm hesitant for the reason that i'm not so sure that my private ob-gyne will be the one who does the operation since she was also pregnant & we have almost the same EDD. So what i did, i called the Delivery Room Department of CDUH to inquire if Dr. Larrazabal went to give birth her child. For God's grace, they informed me that she didn't give birth yet and i felt relieved from my anxiety feelings.
So we hurried into the hospital by riding a taxi. It's so strange that night it rains since it's summertime. As we arrived at the emergency entrance of CDUH, the security guard assisted us by pushing the wheelchair where i'm riding by. We went to the delivery room and i'm the only one who can enter there. The nurses and resident ob-gynes attended me and asked many questions. The nurse told me to change my clothes into patient's gown. So i did what she told me & we entered into small room for IE examination. After they cleaned my genital, the resident ob-gyne did the IE exam & asked me questions related to my pregnancy. He told me that i'm in pre-term & i ask him what will happen to the baby if i will deliver him on this date & he said that there's a chance he will be in the incubator.Upon telling that situation, i'm so worried for my baby & i told him that i don't like IE because it really hurts. After the exam, the IE really hurted me & he said boastfully that "dili ko sakit mang IE noh"& i only replied to myself "unsay dili sakit, hastang sakita nuon ako lang gi-agwanta". They transfered me in the labor room for observation of my contractions and fetal heartbeat. They attached a monitoring device to my tummy and putted oxygen to my nose for baby's proper oxygenation. As i watched the clock, it was12 midnight while they did the observation. The resident ob-gyne who attended me was more likely a gay than a guy in the way he talks and acts. But i'm not so sure for that and that's only came from my observation and it gave me a feeling of unsecure. He told me that he already phone called my private ob-gyne and he asked who will be the pediatrician. I told him that the pediatrician Dr. L. Go,the pediatrician of my toddlers. While i'm in pain of labor, he told me that the Caesarean Section operation schedule will be 9 o'clock tomorrow and i'm so amazed of what he said. I told him my previous experience of Caesarean Section delivery last 2008 and how quickly they did the operation without letting me to undergo labor phase. I asked him why would that be since i should not undergo labor anymore due to my previous cs and i told him how painful was my scar due to the irregular contractions. I insisted that i must be cs as soon as possible because i could not stand longer anymore of the pain. He went away and got back with the reschedule information and that would be 6 o'clock in the morning. I insisted again that's still very far because i knew that i'm going to give birth as soon as possible and by the time he said that it was 1 o'clock in the morning. I'm really disappointed the kind of service they showed to me that time because i underwent labor which was more more painful than the normal labor due to my previous cs. I knew my body and when to give birth because that would be my third child delivery and he did not listen to me. I really hate that resident ob-gyne because he didn't listen to me as his patient. Around 3 o'clock , my water bag was ruptured and i shouted at them that i must be cs right away because the baby was soon to follow. He immidiately did an IE exam to check my opening and he said to the medical team on the operating room now and he called my private ob-gyne immediately and so with the anesthesiologist. I really scolded him while i'm in the middle of deep pain.
Right away, they brought me in the operating room. On our way, i cried and shouted to them as an exit of my anger and agony that i'm currently experiencing. As far as i remembered, somebody injected me a pain reliever & other injection on my dextrose. As we arrived the operating room, it's funny to picture them out how rattled they were in setting up everything they need in the operation. I guessed it must be done ahead of time because doing surgical operation is not an easy task to do and must not be done wrong because it deals with human life. You knew what, i only prayed to Him that everything will be fine and they will not commit mistake in doing the operation. Minutes later, Dr. Larrazabal and the anesthesiologist arrived. I told everything to my private ob-gyne and she said that according to them i have very irregular contractions. I said to her that i'm complaining at them but they didn't listen to me. While i said those thing, i can no longer describe the intense labor pain. Somebody was holding me at the operating bed while the anesthesiologist setting up the catheter of the epidural anesthesia. After that, the anesthesiologist tested if the anesthesia was effected to me by pricking my skin a needle like thing. I knew that anesthesia had a very immediate effect because i can no longer left my both knees and they were numbed. Then, the intensed labor pain was gone and i chilled from the start to end of the operation.
Minutes passed by, i heard the cutest cry in the room. My baby cried for the first time and i'm so glad that he seen the light of this world eventhough how terrible my caesarean delivery experience was on April 12, 2009 Easter Sunday.
